When I lost my eyesight, I began researching various assistive technologies that might help me regain my independence. The solutions at the time had the power to allow me to work, learn and live life with some degree of normalcy with one exception: the cost.A desktop magnification system that could assist me with reading printed material cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. Another software program with the ability to read my computer screen was also expensive. How was I going to be able to afford any of the technology that was created to make my life easier and better?
